Burial of CPO Clyde (Nick) Nichols, USN (Ret.) ~ Part 2

Friday, March 30, 2012, Virginia Beach, VA Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Clyde "Nick" Nichols, 89, died March 27, 2012. He served in the Pacific during WWII on Torpedo Squadron 3 flying from the USS Yorktown. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Star, Presidential Unit Citation with Star and numerous other medals. He was a member of The Police Association of Virginia. He was born in Pearcy, Arkansas, the son of the late Leonard and Allie Nichols. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada Whedbee Nichols. He is survived by his three children, Sandra Nichols Tosh and husband Lee of Jarvisburg, NC, Michael Nichols and wife Janet of Chesapeake, VA and Sharon Nichols of Hurley, NY; a sister, Fay Phillips of Bismarck, AR; a brother, Leonard Nichols and wife Anna of Moorehaven, FL; five grandchildren, Michael Nichols, Jr., Mary Nichols, David Nichols, Bryan Tosh and Brett Tosh; a great grandson, Tyson Nichols; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Vincent and husband ! John. The family would like to thank the Sentara Norfolk General ER and Trauma Unit, Pod 4, for their kindness and professionalism towards Mr. Nichols and family. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
