Life in Skateboarding

Life in Skateboarding
To The University of Chicago Admissions Counselors: To ride atop a skateboard is to dance with the world below. My experience doing so has led me to relish so many of its subtletiesâ€"streets, walls, cracks and curbs that I once mechanically stepped overâ€"as opportunities for joy and expression. Please enjoy this short video about how, through skateboarding, I have learned how to move forward towards the goals I hold in the many facets of my life while enjoying the ride there. Filmed by Brennan Mackay and Savannah Vogt, then compiled and dictated by Ben Golombek in 2010 as part of Gnarwalls of Los Angeles' "Life in Skateboarding" documentary. Music: "Who Knows, Who Cares" by Local Natives Ben Golombek, Transfer Applicant, The University of Chicago 2012

There was also a collection of restored Army trucks, jeeps and troop carriers, which were located in the aerodrome's restored garages. Members of the Great War Society's re-enactment group, representing the Middlesex Regiment, pitched their tents and gave demonstrations of training and we! apons. The fly-in proved to be a honey pot -- within hours of opening, its car parks were packed and motorists were directed to Maldon to catch the vintage double decker park-and-ride bus. It was the first time most of the 2000-plus visitors had seen the Great War airfield that time forgot. New owners Steve Wilson and Russell Savory, who are also constructing a nature reserve, hope it will realise its potential and become one of the county's major tourist magnets. The business partners, who make ...
